Today eighteen years after the disease, her
right hand and leg are affected and look a bit smaller.
She is now a talented artist and the hand wields a paintbrush.
By nature she is very affectionate and helpful.
Physically she was in extreme pain; but mentally
she became very alert and strong and decided to fight her
trauma.
She continued her studies uninterrupted
and her results would always beat her handicap.
Members of the family and her own parents
helped her in developing and cultivating interest in religion,
art, handicraft and music.
"I knew it was a major
ailment, but there was no time to sit and cry. I wanted
to live life and that is exactly what i did" says Shyama.
