Monali
(Shyama) Nandola was born in 1977, in Mumbai.
Shyama's chilhood was marked with lots of fun as she had
a very playful nature. Brought up in a joint family, she
was the most loved child.
But unfortunately at the tender age of 5,
she was afflicted by a rare disease called localised
scleroderma. The doctors were of the opinion that the disease
would spread to the other parts of her body and they gave
her a maximum of two years of further life-span. Laboratory
tests were difficult and prolonged, and the joys of childhood
were replaced by appointments with doctors.
The family went from pillar to
post and consulted many doctors, but none of them could
come up with a proper treatment to her ailment. Many of
the doctors were frank in admitting that they had not heard
of the disease, so the cure was a far cry. Finally a homeopath
took up the case and was successful in arresting the spread
of the disease.
